RACE: Human, ex Borg drone
Born on the Federation colony of Tendara in 2348, Annika Hansen grew up with her parents.
They were both scientists who were presumably working on some kind of propulsion system.
Last Federation records put the Hansen family and their ship, The Raven NAR 32450
in the remote Omega system. They refused to file a flight plan, and by some unknown means
managed to get to the Delta quadrant. By this time, Annika was six years old. She
remembers celebrating her birthday on the Raven's bridge.
Then tragedy struck. The Raven encountered a Borg vessel and was forced to land on a
class-M moon. The fate of Annika's parents are unknown, they were either killed or
assimilated by the Borg. Annika was assimilated and changed into a Borg. Her designation
was "Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix Zero One"
For the next 20 years, Seven performed as a Borg drone, and she lost her identity and
individuality. Until, in 2374 fate brought her into contact with humans again. The Borg
were faced with annihilation by species 8472 until Captain Janeway suggested an alliance(Scorpion,
parts I+II). She requested that one Borg act as a liaison, and Seven was chosen as the
most logical candidate. Species 8472 were eventually defeated(for the time being), and
Seven was left as the only remaining drone. The crew are forced to sever Seven's link to
the Borg, which starts a physical fight for control of her body, her human immune system
rejects the Borg implants.
The Doctor is forced to remove 82% of her implants. Seven wishes, at first to rejoin the
collective, but when Janeway refuses, Seven decides to co-operate with the crew. Seven is
only now starting to rediscover her humanity, after the last 20 years of her life were
robbed by the Borg. There is, however a lot to learn, and her reintegration into society
is an ongoing process.
